Recreation New Brunswick’s programs and initiatives are designed to engage recreation professionals, volunteers, students and the wider community in enhancing quality of life for the province.

NB Plays!

NB PLAYS! is a New Brunswick-led after school initiative for children and youth ages 5 to 19. We promote a blended approach with emphasis on multiple and diverse components. HIGH FIVE®

HIGH FIVE® is Canada’s quality standard for children’s recreation and sport. Before HIGH FIVE®, no standard existed and there was a clear need for an innovative approach to help organizations enhance program quality and provide positive experiences for children, which would remain with them for a lifetime.

ParticipACTION Teen Challenge

The ParticipACTION Teen Challenge is breaking down the barriers that prevent teens from getting active. Working with community organizations we provide the support that teens need to find an activity that motivates them to get moving. Whether it’s yoga, or skateboarding, unicycling or parkcour, ultimate Frisbee™ or handball, there is something out there for everyone and ParticipACTION challenges all teens to find their passion and get moving.

Inclusive Recreation Activity Fund

The Inclusive Recreation Activity Fund, formally the Provincial Recreation Access Fund, exists to provide support and facilitate direct participation for those with disabilities. It is our intention to reduce or eliminate barriers that hinder participation. This re-imagined fund can help cover the costs of registration fees, transportation costs, and equipment needs of individuals who would not have been able to take part in physical activities without this program. Introduced in 2015, a portion of the overall fund ($2500) will be used as a one-time annual grant. Municipalities or organizations can apply for this grant, and the funds can be used towards inclusive recreation programming or inclusive upgrading of a facility.

For Individuals: (Maximum Request: $250)- Three Funding Periods

How does it work? Individuals with a disability can apply for funding from the Inclusive Recreation Activity Fund to help cover activity related expenses. Want to join a gym, or aqua size class? We can help with registration fees. Want to attend a summer camp or after school program? We can pay for that as well! We’ll even help you with some of your equipment and transportation needs too. In fact, we can cover expenses for just about anything, as long as the activity is “ACTIVE”, and not just a “one-time thing”.

FUNDING DEADLINES FOR 2017-2018 WILL BE ANNOUNCED SOON AND WILL BE POSTED WHEN THEY ARE AVAILABLE.

For more information on the program, contact: Michelle DeCourcey at 506.459.1929 Ext 2.

For Municipalities: (Maximum Request: $2500)

How does it work? Municipalities or organizations that provide recreation services can apply for funding from the Inclusive Recreation Activity Fund to help cover inclusive programming or facility related expenses. Want to offer a parallel sport program in your recreation programs, or add specialized equipment to your facility? We can help with these costs. Want to provide a ramp or upgrade your washrooms to include wheelchair access? We can cover expenses for just about anything, as long as the program or facility will be part of the recreation delivery system and used to make those individuals with a disability more “ACTIVE”.

FUNDING DEADLINES FOR 2017-2018 WILL BE ANNOUNCED SOON AND WILL BE POSTED WHEN THEY ARE AVAILABLE..

Municipalities/organizations must provide a letter of intent with your application detailing how these funds will be used and the benefit to your community/organization.
