Community Centre Retrofit Program to Commemorate Canada 150 (FR)
A new program for energy retrofit and energy efficiency projects at community centres has been unveiled.
“As part of Canada’s 150th anniversary, our government is taking action to ensure assistance is available for municipalities and not-for-profit groups to carry out energy efficiency projects at community centres in New Brunswick,” said Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour Minister Donald Arseneault, who is also minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation. “By making community centres more energy efficient, we can reduce operating costs, provide local construction jobs, and improve the experience for those using the buildings. That is why we are introducing this initiative to help communities.”
Under the program, not-for-profit organizations and municipalities may apply for non-repayable contributions up to a maximum of $25,000 on approved projects through the Regional Development Corporation. Eligible costs include siding, insulation, doors and windows, and lighting and heating systems, including electrical panels for generators.
There is no application form for this program and applicants must submit a signed letter referring to the Program to apply. The letter should include information about the project and contractor/supplier estimates.
The deadline is May 12, 2017. The request can be sent by mail or by email to RDC-SDR@gnb.ca.
